I walk in the front door after work and am greeted by my wife with,
“Did you enjoy your coffee meeting with a man, 5′ 9″, walks with a slight limp in his left foot, served briefly in Afghanistan with the Royal Scots Fusiliers, whose nephew smokes a curiously carved meerschaum churchwarden pipe?”
“How could you possibly know that?!” I splutter.
“Elementary my dear Trevor. First, from the drop of dried cream on the instep of your left shoe, it is clear that…”
If you’ve ever read Sherlock Holmes, you know he’s a DISC Conscientious. My wife has some of these traits as well.
This is what life with a high Conscientious is like. They are often very smart, highly observant, and have excellent memories. If I were to ever have an affair, I would be instantly caught out by the slightly altered sound of my steps on the front porch. There would be no need to open the front door. She would have all the intel needed long before that.
DISC Conscientious people are:
- Detailed
- Thorough
- Observant noticers
- Good at analysis
- Organized
- Self-disciplined
- Self-sacrificing
- Process-driven
To mention just a few of their great qualities. They may also be:
- Touchy if criticized
- Controlling
- Deficiency spotting
- Overly picky
- Advice giving
- Bogged down in detail
Each of the four personality types has strengths and also areas of weakness.
