We’ve all worked with a bonehead at some point in our careers, and I too can think of some real gob smackers when I look at back at my 30 years in the workforce.

I remember the guy that announced, in a staff meeting, that he was starting to keep a record of the menstrual cycles of the women in the office so that he would have special intel on the best time to approach them for help with his work.  How he came by this information I neither inquired upon nor discovered but I will admit to a high degree of curiosity now that I reflect on it.

Today he would be thrown in prison, not eligible for parole ever, but back in the day it was just a matter of some indignant females and eye-rolling males.  I remember sitting in the meeting thinking that it was officially time for me to find a new planet to call home (this was not his first time at bat with a good, eye-popping non-sequitur designed to cause maximum offense).

My point is that there are people who do need to move on and find a new, better, and especially DIFFERENT place to work.  Having said that..

Every workplace is filled with imperfect people

Imperfect people like you.  Every team is filled with them.  So is every friendship, partnership, marriage and family.

Successful relationships are about learning how to see the good in others, and offer forgiveness when they fail us; just as we hope for the same from them.

We want mercy for ourselves and justice for others.

Hold the highest thought.  Take the high road.  Be the bigger person.  Let your attitude determine your altitude.  These maxims have entered the culture for a reason:  They work.

“I have known many happy marriages, but never a compatible one.  The whole aim of marriage is to fight through and survive the instant when incompatibility becomes unquestionable.  For a man and a woman, as such, are incompatible.”  G.K. Chesterton
