ABOUT PROFESSIONAL LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE
Good learning deserves to be shared.
Professional Leadership Institute (PLI) is a professional development platform combining DISC assessments with practical learning in communication, management and leadership. It provides resources for business owners and managers developing their people—and for individuals building their own skills.
We believe the skills behind exceptional performance can be taught. PLI exists to share lessons from mentorship, business education and building businesses—so more people have the opportunity to put them to work.
Free assessment and results. Premium reports and courses are optional paid products.
It began with a need to develop people.
PLI began inside founder Justin Mitchell’s growing businesses, where hiring, onboarding and developing people had become pressing challenges. His experience included building Frontline, a commercial real estate brokerage, around people and technology, and owning a property-management business.
DISC opened conversations about working styles. Preparing people for management also meant learning how to set expectations, delegate and support performance.
Drawing on mentorship, business education, extensive reading and operating experience, Justin developed a practical curriculum with his business coach. He used it across his companies, then made it available more widely through PLI.
For Justin, seeing people succeed is the most rewarding part of building a business. That is the purpose PLI carries forward.

About Justin
From self-awareness to everyday practice.
Development starts with the individual. In a team, the same learning opens conversations about how people work, what they want to achieve and the responsibilities they are preparing for.
01
Understand yourself.
Use DISC to reflect on your working style, appreciate different strengths and consider how you communicate. A profile is a starting point for conversation, not a measure of ability or potential.

Try it in a conversation
Before delegating a task, ask: “Would a summary or more detail help you get started?” Then agree on the expected result.
02
Choose your direction.
Self-awareness gives you a starting point. Personal planning brings your values and goals together. The Personal One-Page Plan provides a place to consider where you are, where you want to go and what matters along the way.
03
Put it into practice.
Turn that direction into a task list, block time for focused work and build accountability for following through. As responsibilities change, develop the skills they call for—from communicating clearly to delegating and supporting someone else’s performance.
Choose the resources that fit your needs. For a team, start with a shared development priority and the skills it calls for.
Make that learning part of your work.
Build your own skills, or help others prepare for the work ahead.
