Today I learned a lesson from lady at the motor vehicle branch as I accompanied my son Sam to write his driver’s test (he passed!).
I asked her my standard question: “Is this a good place to work?” She told me that she loves her work because she loves knowing that she’s made a difference in people’s lives by being nice to them. She’s sometimes stopped around town by people who thank her for making a scary time easier.
After us I watched her dealing with a senior citizen lady having to prove that she could still drive. She handled what could have been a humiliating experience for that lady with grace and kindness. She’s making a difference.
A business is like a human body – every part is important, and if every part isn’t working properly, the whole body is thrown off. Is the head more important than the little toe? Try stubbing the toe and then answer that question.
Every job at every pay scale has value and dignity, if you put passion into it. At your workplace, do you lift the average or do you lower it?
