After each Christmas, I give you a planning tool for the upcoming year. Here’s the recipe for your winning 2016:
- Write down the projects that would make the biggest difference in your life if you completed them in 2016. No more than three. They may be personal or work—related, or a mix of both. Health, education, community service, finances, relationship, faith, or work achievements are some possible categories. Probably your important ones come quickly to mind.
- For each project, write out your specific, measureable, desired outcome. Then decide on three components that will make that project happen, and write them down. Now write down three action steps under each component.
- Now ask yourself who you need around you to help you make these projects a success. Write down their names.
- Transfer your action steps into your calendar.
Start 2016 right by being proactive. Do you fear failure? The most effective way to combat fear is to take action.
