One of the central concepts in Lean Manufacturing is simplicity. This is something that should guide our thinking when creating any new program or really designing anything within the business.
I don’t know why it is, but as an organization grows there is a desire to make things more complex.
Here’s a good rule of thumb: If it can’t fit on one page, you don’t have a clear enough idea of what you’re after.
Whether it’s a job description, an HR system, an incentive/bonus plan or your company’s strategic plan, it needs to fit onto one page.
Simplicity=Focus, Complexity=Chaos
