Simple. People follow the example set by their leaders.
If the leader says:
“Be on time,” and arrives on time, everyone else will be on time too.
“Be on time,” and comes in late, some will be on time, some will be late.
“Be positive!” and locks their attitude in at a 10, everyone else will strive to show a positive attitude
“Be positive!” and focuses on the negatives, the atmosphere will be mostly negative.
“Show respect,” and refuses to talk smack about people when given the opportunity, everyone will treat teammates with respect.
“Show respect,” and disses people behind their backs, gossip will infect the whole workplace.
That’s why working on yourself is the best thing you can do as a leader. Over time, your team or business will look just like you.
Not complicated! When you improve, everyone gets better.
How are you becoming a better person this week?
