I sat with a great leader of a large organization for dinner and he mentioned to me that, over time, he has trained his mind so that he doesn’t worry about most of the things that consume other people’s time. Things like:
- The cost of car repairs
- government inefficiency
- bad weather
- the state of the euro
His memorable quote was:
“Things that you can’t control aren’t problems, they’re facts of life.”
Why waste time hitting your head against a wall over something that is completely out of your control? Focus on the things that you can do something about, and train your mind to forget about the rest. Great advice for sleeping better at night!
