Self awareness is key to having a strong team dynamic.  This is a simple self awareness exercise to try with your team.

Ask each person to identify what they believe are their irritating behaviors.  Choose between one and three.  Or more if you like!  Then ask each person to share what they believe are their irritating behaviors.  Divide them up into pairs for additional peer coaching.

If your team has a high level of trust, comment on each person’s irritating behaviors.  If not, just ask each person to identify their own and get them thinking.  Most people have never considered that they do things that the rest of the team doesn’t enjoy.

This exercise should take from 30-60 minutes depending on the size of the team and how much sharing you encourage.
