INFJ: THE ADVISOR| PERSONALITY DESCRIPTION

INFJ the advisor

Personality tests are great tools we can use to find out more information about ourselves and others. While several personality tests are available online, one of the most renowned tests is called Myer’s Briggs. If you have been following our series, you may already know that the Myer’s Briggs test divides personality types into 16 groups. And today, we are going to cover the INFJ personality, which is also known as the advisor.

Overview of the INFJ Personality Type

An acronym identifies each personality in the Myer’s Briggs test. The acronym for the healer personality type is INFJ which stands for introversion, i(N)tuition, feeling, and judging. Individuals with this personality are described as being determined, selfless, and reserved. While they enjoy being around other people, they need time afterward to recharge.

Furthermore, the INFJ personality is someone who leads with empathy. As a result, they tend to make decisions based on what they feel is right for them rather than logic. Additionally, these individuals also enjoy structure and planning during their day and are prone to remaining organized in their work and personal life. Compared to other personalities, INFJs are the rarest group in society, with only 2% of human beings identifying as such.

Strengths

Furthermore, like all personality types, the INFJ has many strengths. Let’s take a look at some of these strengths in more detail down below:

Compassionate: These individuals are highly empathetic towards others. Therefore, they have a natural tendency to go out of their way to help others when they are in need. In addition, as masters of communication, they can often pick up on spoken and unspoken misfortune occurring around them.

Decisive: INFJs have no trouble facing challenges with a decisive mindset. Regardless of what they face, they are always open and ready to make decisions that feel best to them.

Peaceful: At work and in their personal lives, INFJ personalities are often trying to keep the peace between others. They are always there to listen when people need help and do not mind working as a mediator to help resolve conflicts.

Idealistic Thinkers: While INFJs are creative in many ways, they also possess a practical lens when problem-solving. Additionally, being deep thinkers, they are able to foster change to uplift others and often succeed in doing so.

Weaknesses

Moreover, no one is without faults. Let’s take a look at some of the weaknesses individuals with the INFJ personality have:

Sensitive: These individuals are naturally sensitive in nature. As a result, they often become hurt when accepting constructive criticism and feedback from others by taking things to heart more than they should.

Private: While people with the INFJ personality have no trouble connecting with others, they don’t tend to reveal much about themselves. This can often manifest as being cold and insensitive. However, in reality, they honor their relationships with friends and family and prefer to keep their trusted circle small.

Perfectionist: Many INFJs are perfectionists at heart. As a result, they can create unrealistic expectations for themselves that they aren’t able to fulfill.

Healthy vs. Unhealthy INFJ

Furthermore, while many INFJs live a healthy and balanced lifestyle, others find difficulties staying true to their kind nature. This often leads to unhealthy life choices and negative consequences. Therefore, let’s take a look at what a healthy vs. an unhealthy INFJ looks like.

Healthy

  • Able to healthily address events of the conflict in their life
  • Sets healthy boundaries with others
  • Balances the needs of others with their own
  • Accepts themselves for who they are –will not try to change themselves to please others
  • Celebrates their accomplishments humbly

Unhealthy

INFJ-A vs. INFJ-T

Moreover, let’s compare what the INFJ-A vs. the INFJ-T is. The INFJ-A is also known as the Assertive Advisor, while the ENFJ-T is the Turbulent Advisor. While the assertive advisor is confident and relaxed in life, the turbulent advisor is more self-conscious. Furthermore, while the assertive personality will make decisions based on morally correct, the turbulent version will follow their passions without a second thought. Lastly, assertive INFJ personalities are more adaptable to changing circumstances as opposed to their turbulent counterparts.

INFJ’s in Relationships

Furthermore, when in a relationship, the INFJ is a very open and honest partner. They often hold positive outlooks and are motivated to keep their partners happy and healthy. Additionally, as they are naturally empathetic, they have no trouble understanding their partner’s feelings. However, sometimes they may experience difficulties being open about how they truly feel to avoid conflict and have a hard time accepting criticism when they have done something wrong. Nonetheless, INFJs are great romantic partners who stay committed to the ones they love.

Our Clients Love the Professional Leadership Institute

Your team will, too! Check out some reviews from our students.
The PLI program was invaluable to our network.
The range of topics delivered, the open dialogue, experience, and examples that PLI brought to each session were outstanding and provided a path for our Franchisees and Managers to look at leadership, coaching, and connecting with their teams in a new light. Many have implemented these strategies in their bakeries and have seen immediate results.

Highly recommend to help your team move forward
We have locations around BC and Alberta, so getting people on the same page can be very difficult... Until now. Our entire management team and location managers take the same great courses and then meet monthly online with our coach to apply it to our situation. People are engaged, the courses are excellent, we love our coach, and we are all learning together!

Our culture has taken major steps forward this year
Our culture has taken major steps forward this year with Trevor’s help.  He is funny, relatable, and his tools are very very practical and have helped us focus and upgrade our teams throughout our retail network. Trevor recently spoke to an employee group, and one person remarked, “I could listen to Trevor all day.”   We would highly recommend Trevor.
